para magazine
graphic design diploma project
Paraphilias are sexual attractions or practices judged to be out of the ordinary, and encompass a vast range of attractions that are, in the eyes of some, normal and in the eyes of others unacceptable. Not all paraphilias are dangerous or immoral, but they often have their source in a significant childhood event in which objects or acts were closely linked to sexuality. As a result, in some cases paraphilias become too much to bear and can become paraphilic disorders, requiring psychological follow-up, or in other cases paraphilias are more a matter of assumed naughty pleasure between partners or solo!
PARA MAGAZINE is a collection of publications in which paraphilias within the legal framework are explored and highlighted. Each issue of the magazine focuses on an object of desire (Issue 1 on blood, Issue 2 on robots) and gives us the chance to get a better look at these uncommon practices by presenting wide-ranging typologies of content under an alphabetical structure. The magazine's main aim is to present paraphilias with a gentle approach, so that users can get to know these practices better, and give them a better impression as a first contact. Users decide how close they want to get to the subject, so they can stay on the surface and read the typographic outer pages, or tear through the pages thanks to the perforation and Japanese-style binding to access the images.
